Northern Perks Coffee Shop
About This Spot
Nestled along the peaceful stretch of WI-32 in Lakewood, Northern Perks Coffee Shop unfolds like a warmly kept secret of the Northwoods. The moment you step inside, there’s an inviting hum—neither rushed nor overly still—that settles around you like a comfortable old sweater. It’s a place where familiarity seems to grow effortlessly into moments of genuine human exchange, whether you’re a regular or just wandering off the highway for a coffee break.
The space balances a cozy, handcrafted charm with the quiet buzz of a neighborhood gathering spot. Soft aromas of freshly brewed coffee mingle with sweet hints from the bakery counter, crafting a subtle but irresistible invitation to linger. Baristas here take a delicate care with each cup, from richly whipped mochas to carefully poured lattes, evoking that sense of craft that isn’t just about caffeine but about a shared experience.
Beyond simply a coffee stop, Northern Perks has gently evolved into a welcoming nook where friendly smiles are as consistent as the quality beverages. The staff’s ease in guiding you through their creative drink options feels like a conversation with a neighbor recommending their favorite picks—be it a deeply comforting London Fog or a playful mocha variant. And those who enjoy a little browsing will find the adjoining gift shop a delightful extension of the visit, filled with intriguing local finds that echo the warmth of the café itself.
Here, the pulse of the day might swell on holiday weekends or slow to a gentle lull during quieter afternoons, but in either tempo, the care and attention people bring to their craft and interactions remain the same. Northern Perks doesn’t rush you out the door; instead, it offers just enough space to settle, sip, and slow down for a while—an understated moment of calm on any Wisconsin day.

Enjoyed their drinks and had a fun selection. Might not be Starbucks but that's ok.

This coffee/ gift shop has changed in so many ways. When I first started going about 3 years back, it was a hidden gem for me. Within the past year, it has bloomed into an even greater establishment. Very welcoming, service is top tier, and the employees always make it easy to order and find things in the shop.

Delicious London Fog! Drinks were well-made and crafted with great care. Yummy treats and giftshop too. Add this to your list of places to visit.

Had to try this shop for a second time, first time I tried, it was during 4th of July weekend and it was crazy packed, but the coffee was still great. Back up on slower weekend and the coffee is still amazing, the turnovers are glorious and the staff is wonderful. Highly recommend stopping in.

Had an iced latte and drip coffee. Latte was quite good but drip coffee was watered down. Maybe just a bad batch. The almond croissant was not good. I'll come back since the espresso was good and the service was great.
